Description:

Originally produced by Remington-Rand in 1943, this frame was subsequently selected by the Springfield Armory for upgrade to a National Match competition-grade pistol using a set of Colt-supplied components. Serrated Patridge blade front sight and Micro-brand adjustable rear sights, with a Colt Government Model slide, "NM 7790313" barrel (both numbered to match the frame), "7267718/NM" bushing, and a "FJA" frame with "T", "S A" and "NM" stamps. Equipped with a long serrated adjustable trigger, checkered wide hammer, checkered front strap and mainspring housing, checkered grips and an unmarked full blue magazine. Included with the pistol is a brown leather Enger-Kress 1944 shoulder holster and a brown cardboard shipping box; the box is labelled to match the pistol and addressed from the Erie Army Depot to a LTC Samuel Burkhalter of Stamford, Connecticut. While not verified, records show a Colonel Samuel Carl Burkhalter as a World War II veteran, U.S. Army Reserve officer and noted marksman; among other distinctions, he was a 3-time winner of the Citizen Soldier Trophy (including in the introductory year), 1966 "500 Club" marksman, the 1972 Leech Cup winner, and recipient of the "President's 100" tab.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished and upgraded to National Match Specifications, with 98% plus parkerized finish, showing some bright edge wear and light handling marks. The grips are excellent, with some light spots and a few dings. Mechanically excellent. The box and holster are both fine.
