Description:

Manufactured in 1869 with the highly desirable Henry patent barrel address ("HENRY'S PATENT-OCT. 16. 1860/KINGS-PATENT-MARCH 29, 1866") stamped ahead of the rear sight on the top flat. The rifle is fitted with a dovetailed blade front sight and a dovetailed notch rear sight. The bolt retains its original .44 rimfire configuration. Sling swivels are mounted on the underside of the buttstock and forend cap. The serial number is stamped in block numerals behind the trigger. The straight grip stock has a brass trapdoor buttplate containing a four piece cleaning rod. The buttstock and buttplate are numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Good. Traces of faded original blue finish remain on the barrel and magazine in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown patina. The brass has a bright appearance. The lower tang has been crudely repaired, and the sights are period replacements. The non-factory replacement wood is very good with some minor handling marks, forearm having a repair and chipping. Mechanically fine (light trigger pull).
