Pre-Mexican-American War 1837 Dated Cyrus Alger & Co. 6-Pounder Model 1835 Bronze Field Gun with Carriage

Only 58 Model 1835 6-Pounders were accepted by the government. Cyrus Alger & Co. in Boston produced 26 under July 13, 1836, contract. Additional Model 1835s may have been produced for state contracts. This model was quickly superseded by new models in the 1840s. Features an 5.67 inch diameter and a 57.5 inch long smoothbore, "CA & Co" on the right trunnion, "1837" on the left trunnion, blind holes in the center of the trunnions, "No 250/1850" on the right trunnion strap, "US/ARSENAL/WATERVLIET" on the left trunnion strap, and a Paulson Bros. Ordnance Corp. plate on the carriage.
