Description:

Manufactured from 1878 to 1892. The New York engraving consists mostly of fine floral scrollwork on a punch dot background along with accents of wavy line and dot motifs. The barrel rib legend ends with the reissue 1871 patent date, and there is an outside strain screw. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch. The leather bound case has a silk Hartley & Graham of New York ribbon label on the interior of the lid and a cartridge block holding a full count of 24 rounds. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 3 inch barrel, blue finish and black hard rubber grips when shipped on November 25, 1884 and delivered to M.W. Robinson Co. of New York City.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period embellished, retaining 97% period retailer applied nickel finish with some scattered light-mild flaking. The engraving is crisp. 95% of the case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are excellent with minimal handling marks and highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically needs work as the cylinder does not rotate when the action is cycled. The case is very good showing minor-moderate wear throughout. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
