Description:

Manufactured in 1950, per the Winchester Arms Collectors Association. The included George Madis letter indicates that the records list the date of manufacture as 1953 with a 26 inch barrel fitted with a factory vent rib, which is of the correct "doughnut" post style and is fitted with white and nickel bead sights. The barrel displays the standard Winchester trademark, model designation, caliber designation, and 2 3/4 inch chamber markings. The letter goes on to mention the unusual way in which the Winchester factory oval proofs are stamped, this being that even though they are offset to the left correctly, they are oriented towards the butt of the gun rather than the muzzle. Madis also mentions the choke marking which has been restamped "IMP CYL" (measured at modified) over the faint remnants of the original marking. Mounted with a finely figured double-diamond pattern checkered slide handle and pistol grip stock with Winchester grip cap and checkered buttplate, and 13 7/8 inch length of pull. Includes a Winchester factory box that Madis lists as original, with Model 12 label ink stamped with "PIGEON" and "SELECT WOOD", and hand marked to match the gun including serial number.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with retains 98% original the blue finish with some light cycling/edge wear and some very light scattered spotting. The wood is excellent, with minimal handling marks and a few minor imperfections in the crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with mild handling/storage wear.
