Manufactured in December of 1940 and subsequently upgraded to M1D Sniper configuration. Blade front and peep rear sights, with "DRC" windage drum and a Springfield "S-A-9-52" barrel with integral scope base. Internal components include a Springfield bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety and relief cut operating rod, with a Toole Arsenal "TE/12-68" rework mark on the right receiver leg. and a Winchester trigger housing and hammer. The hardwood stock is "P" marked, with a green canvas sling, brown leather "MRT/1 52" cheekpiece (screws not installed) and a checkered steel buttplate. An M84 scope, serial number "40551", is installed. Included with the rifle is a brown shipping box with Anniston Depot labels hand-numbered to match both the rifle and the scope, a canvas scope pouch, a number of small cleaning tools still in the original packaging, CMP letter, which identifies the rifle by serial number as having been sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program in February 1996 as a M1D rifle, and CMP sales record.
