Description:

This is a good example of a Harrington & Richardson M14 rifle that was manufactured under a U.S. government contract that was demilitarized (cut in two) and was remanufactured into a fully functional M14 assault rifle by the Phoenix Arm Company in Houston, Texas. The M14 was conceived as a multi-role weapon that was designed to serve as a main infantry combat rifle, maneuverable enough to replace the sub-machine gun, and capable of acting as a squad automatic weapon as well. It was used throughout Vietnam until approximately 1968 when all forces had to turn them in and started using the new M16 rifle. The M14 did find some users abroad especially the IDF and on the home front, where it was approved for use by numerous Highway Patrol and Sheriff units as well as the Border Patrol and National Park Service. It was later resurrected during the Iraq war in a designated M14-EBR sniper rifle, when fitted with a new SAGE stock. The receiver has the standard five line markings H&R factory markings and it has a mix of GI parts that include an original HRA marked trigger group, operating rod and barrel assembly with an M14 bolt manufactured by Winchester. It is fitted with the standard front sight and the adjustable peep rear sight. The fire control components are all present and accounted for, and the hardwood stock is marked with the Department of Defense cartouche on the left side and a circled "P" on the wrist. It comes with 8 (eight) 20 round detachable magazines, a GI folding type bipod and a green canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled, rewelded and remanufactured by the Phoenix Arm Company with 90% of a dark GI type parkerized finish overall. The stock and handguard are both in very good condition with numerous handling marks on the sides in various areas. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
