This is an excellent example of a M1 Thompson semi-automatic as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corp. in West Hurley, NY. This weapon was properly registered and converted to a "Short Barreled Rifle" (SBR/Class III). Originally these were produced as copies of the original war expedient M1 Thompson SMGs only in semi-automatic with a 16 inch barrel. As noted this example has had a correct 10.5 inch smooth M1 type barrel installed with the front sight properly installed. It has the standard Auto-Ordnance markings on both sides of the receiver with the left side marked "CALIBER .45M1". It has the correct style fixed front sight, fixed "L" type war expedient rear sight, horizontal walnut forearm, pistol grip and fixed (non-detachable) buttstock. It comes with two 20 round stick magazines and a black plastic "Thompson" marked storage/carrying case.
