Original manufactured in Belgium as a semi-automatic version of the FNC military rifle and imported by Gun South Incorporated of Alabama for distribution by Howco, this item was configured for select fire by Fleming Firearms of Oklahoma. Developed in the 1970s as a potential competitor against the U.S. M16/AR-15 rifle, the FNC was adopted by a number of armed forces, including the Belgians, as well as being licensed for production in Sweden and Indonesia. Howco was active in the early 1980s, and chiefly focused on law enforcement distribution. Post front and two-leaf peep rear sights, with a flip-up grenade sight, vented and ribbed forearm, smooth pistol grip, and a side folding buttstock. The selector is marked for "S" (safe), "1" (semi-automatic), "3" (three round burst) and "A" (full automatic), and appears functional in all modes.
