Thousands of these were imported by the Union during the Civil War and were mainly used in the Western Theater by troops from the Midwest. Some were probably captured and put to use by Confederate troops. This rifle has "T.W." on the barrel, breech, bolster, and lock as well as "C.S.A." on the latter in addition to the usual Austrian markings. It has a blade front sight, notch and folding ladder rear sight with 300, 400, and 500 yard peeps and a top notch; and a beech stock without a cheek piece and with mostly brass furniture.

Rating Definition:

Fine with mostly light gray patina on the iron along with some light brown patina and spots of mild oxidation/pitting, aged patina on the brass, and general mild marks and scratches. The stock is also fine and has a few minor hairline cracks and light dings. Mechanically fine.
