Description:

This is a scarce example of a WWII contract BREN MkI machine gun that was manufactured by the Inglis Factory in Canada for the Chinese Government during WWII and later registered by Interarmco. The only time that any BREN gun was manufactured with the "7.92" caliber markings on the side of the receiver was for the WWII Chinese contracts. In that configuration it was originally identified as the Model 41 or just M41. These have a top mounted detachable 20 round magazine with front and rear sights slightly offset to the left to clear the magazine. This was one of the best squad level machine Guns used during WWII as it was extremely robust, highly reliable and very accurate. It remained in service until the early 60s when replaced by the FN manufactured MAG-58, identified as the British L7A1. This example as noted has been converted into the "7.62 NATO" cartridge and the top of the barrel is so marked. It is fitted with the standard folding tangent rear sight graduated 2-16 (200-1600 meters) but still marked for 7.92 Mauser. The rear of the receiver is etched with serial number "I-6862" and it has a matching barrel locking latch. If has an all parkerized upper receiver group with a blued lower trigger housing group with a walnut buttstock and pistol grip. It is complete with three 20 round box magazines and an original barrel mounted folding bipod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 95% of the light gray parkerized finish overall showing only minor edge and high spot wear. The wood components are both in very fine condition showing handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides in various areas. Mechanically fine. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
