Description:

This is a scarce Krieghoff "S" code German Luger that was manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. This Luger is marked with the "S" code over the chamber which was the code indicating manufacture circa early 1936. The pistol is an early variation marked "H (anchor) K/SUHL" on the toggle. The full serial number is marked on the front frame, the left side of the receiver, and breech block. The last two digits of the serial number are on the side plate, rear toggle assembly, trigger, take down lever, and side plate. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the large "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance mark followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked only with the bore and the "Eagle/2" proof. The left side of the breech block is marked with the test proof and the parts stamp. The parts stamp is also present on the underside of the toggle link. The grips are checkered walnut and are not numbered or proofed. The magazine has a nickel plated body with aluminum base that is numbered "480" and has an eagle proof. In this "S" code year of manufacture only 4,000 total pistols were produced, with only 1,800 in this early serial number block.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish remaining, with 60% refurbished straw colors remaining. There is some wear on top of the chamber area, the side plate hump, the front edges of the frame rail, the sides of the muzzle (slight pitting), and some thinning on the sides of the barrel and the stock lug area. The barrel extension exhibits some browning and discoloration on the top and sides in the breech block area. The grips are fine showing even checkering with the top of the diamonds on both sides being flat from general wear. A solid representative example of an early production Krieghoff-Luftwaffe Luger pistol.
