This collector's choice condition S&W .32 Safety Hammerless Revolver has fabulously exquisite Oscar Young factory engraving. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 2 inch barrel, gold finish, pearl grips and type 4 S&W engraving when shipped on June 8, 1899 with a case to Mr. M.A. Tappan (address not listed), possibly of the Washington D.C. sporting goods retailer M.A. Tappan & Co. The near full coverage embellishment consists of fine floral scrollwork on a punch dot background. The revolver has a full gold plating and highly desirable and rare special order 2 inch "bicycle" barrel with the correct two-line address amongst the scrollwork on the left side. The right side of the frame has the S&W monogram surrounded by scrollwork. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder and barrel. It is fitted with equally stunning pearl grips. Comes in a period leather bound and suede lined French fitted case containing a gold plated bore rod with pearl handle and three screwdriver bits with a gold plated container/handle.

Excellent, retaining 98% plus of the original gold plating showing only the slightest edge wear and light cylinder drag lines. The grips are also excellent showing minimal handling marks and highly attractive fiery colors. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor exterior wear and typical high spot wear on the lining.
