Manufactured in 1895 and shipped in 1896 with single brass bead sight on the matte concave solid rib with dolls head extension and marked with the one-line address near the breech. The action is lightly floral scroll engraved with hunting dog and game bird scenes on each side. The underside is marked "PATENTED/AUG 22, SEP 18, 1882". The break lever, forearm hardware and trigger guard are also engraved with light scroll and simple designs. A game bird scene is on the trigger guard. It has matching serial numbers, Damascus barrels, double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety and a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and stock with an ebony forend insert, checkered flats, horn grip cap and checkered Colt embossed horn buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies configuration including the stock weight at 9 pounds, 1 ounce, that it was furnished with "$125.00 worth of enhancements" and shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 14, 1896.
