Colt Medium Frame Lightning Slide Action Rifle with Factory Letter

The letter indicates this rifle was in the current configuration when shipped on March 8, 1892, in a shipment of 10 guns of this type sent to Hartley & Graham in New York City. It has a German silver "Rocky Mountain" style blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, standard markings, checkered pump handle, and smooth rifle buttstock with steel buttplate.

ConditionFine with 60% original blue finish remaining, mainly concentrated on the frame, fading to an even brown patina along the barrel and magazine tube, mild oxidation mainly on the barrel and buttplate, and general mild wear such as scratches and edge wear. The wood is also fine and has crisp checkering, smooth oiled finish, and minor scratches and pressure marks. The forearm has non-factory period carved initials, "JH" on the left rear side. Mechanically excellent.
