Description:

Manufactured in 1894. The factory letter dated December 10, 1980, verifies the rifle configuration with a 32-40 caliber 34 inch #4 octagon barrel, set trigger, that it was received in the warehouse on February 24, 1894 and shipped out on February 26, 1894. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address, "32-40" at the breech and "4" is marked on the lower flat just ahead of the forearm. "PAT. OCT. 7TH 79" is marked directly behind the trigger and the serial number follows that. Adjustable globe front sight, adjustable rear sporting sight and mid range Verneer tang mounted sight. Blue barrel, casehardened receiver, lever and buttplate, single set trigger, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 60% thinning original blue finish with edge wear, a few minor dings, some small areas of light corrosion and some plum patina. The receiver retains 40% original vivid case colors with some fading and discoloration. The lever shows patterns of muted original case colors in protected areas with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The wood is also very fine with some scattered minor dings, noticeable dents on bottom of forearm, and handling marks. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
