Manufactured in 1889 with the pre-1902 casehardened receiver. The special order 32 inch barrel now is marked with the two-line Winchester address and "45-90 W.C.F." on the top flat and fitted with a dovetailed German silver blade front sight, no provision for a rear sight, and tang mounted Lyman peep sights. The left side of the lower tang is marked "1006 XX", and the stock mortise, buttplate, and stock under the buttplate are all marked "1006". Mounted with a finely figured checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with ebony insert, sling swivels, and a crescent buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration including the special order features as well as receipt at the warehouse on 15 May 1889 and shipment the same day in order number 21621.

Fine as professionally restored, retains 98% blue finish on the correct pattern replacement barrel and 90% plus case colors with the balance a smooth grey patina, some scattered light scratches, and some light edge wear. The professionally refurbished wood is also fine with a few scattered light scratches and dings, and a few light blemishes in the crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent.
