Description:

Marvin J. Kemper of Liberty Longrifles, LLC in Indiana, is the son of gunmaker Cornell Kemper and is an exceptional modern craftsman admired for his carving, engraving, and overall quality and has been tapped by the NRA and others to build presentation and historic commemorative pieces. This Lancaster style rifle is signed "M J Kemper" on top of the barrel which is most likely from Rice. The barrel is tapered and has dovetailed traditional blade and notch sights, scroll engraving by the sights and at the breech, and a steel vent liner. The polished lock also has scroll engraving and appears to be a Chambers Large Siler. The rifle has double set triggers. The furniture is brass, and there is also scroll engraving on the trigger guard and patch box. The patch box has a daisy finial, and the lid is engraved with a spread wing eagle and early U.S. flag design along with a "FREEDOM LIBERTY" inscribed banner. The release button is in the toe plate. The cheek piece has an inlaid spread wing eagle. The beautifully figured curly maple stock has nice molding along forend terminating in incised scrolls, attractively shaped flats, raised relief scroll carving at the barrel tang and left side of the butt, scroll accents at the front of the comb, and molding along the bottom of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall as custom made with minimal overall wear aside from some minor surface oxidation/residue on the lock, light strike wear on the frizzen, and a few minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
