Only around 1,001 of these incredibly rare rifles were manufactured c. 1880-1881 and have "SWP/1881" cartouches like this outstanding example. The main difference between this model and the standard Model 1879 rifles is the inclusion of a sliding "rod bayonet" with a triangular blade, the associated locking mechanism fitted below the barrel, and the compartment in the butt. The sights, markings, and other features are standard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 95% plus of the original blue and casehardened finish, light scratches and dings on the metal and otherwise excellent wood, light edge wear, and crisp markings. Mechanically excellent.
