A) M. Minick Pocket Pistol

The locks on these pistols are signed "M.MINICK." This appears to be a mark for Toussaint Mathias Minick, a gunmaker from Liege, Belgium, around 1781-1803. The cannon style barrels have rifled bores, gold scroll and floral patterns on the octagonal breech section of the barrels, martial engraving on the locks, scroll engraving on the side plates and trigger guards, grotesque mask carving on the pommels, and fluer-de-lis style carving at the bottom of the forends and barrel tangs.

ConditionFine with 70% plus original blue finish, light patina on the lock and furniture, mild wear on the gold accents, some light spotting, and general minor wear. The refinished stock is fine and has a very faint hairline crack in the left flat, distinct carving, some dings, and glossy finish. Mechanically fine.

ConditionFine with 70% plus original blue, mostly bright lock and side plate, mild patination mainly on the trigger guard, some wear on the gold accents, and general light wear. The refinished stock is very good and has a crack running from the carving at the top of the wrist down to the right side of the trigger, crisp carving, a few dents, and light scratches. The lock is mechanically fine but appears to have issue with fitting up with the stock or trigger that is preventing it from holding full-cock when mounted.
