These pistols were proofed in Liege and retailed by Gastinne-Renette of Paris around the mid-19th century. They feature "FNI PAR GASTINNE-RENETTE A PARIS" on the top of the barrels, scroll engraving, dovetailed blade front sights, fixed notch rear sights on the upper tangs, spurred trigger guards, and checkered half-stocks and come in a hardwood case with "GASTINNE-RENETTE/PARIS" in gold lettering inside the lid, closely fitted interior, and the following accessories: two wood containers, a wooden mallet, two wrenches (one in a spot for a now absent screwdriver), ball mold, cleaning and loading rods, and a modern key. There is also a slot for an absent measure. The bottom of the barrel of pistol "A" has a "2" ahead of the wedge staple, "crown/LR" followed by "5167" on the lower left, "BD" behind the staple, Liege proofmarks, and "8" on the barrel and plug at the breech. The inside of the forend also has "8" and "5167."
