Description:

Introduced in 1911 with the distinction of being the first 20 gauge repeating shotgun available on the market. Unlike the more common Winchester Model 1897 or Stevens Model 520 slide action shotguns this design is not derived from John M. Browning, but was created in house by Chief Firearms Designer George Lewis, and Charles (Sparrow) Young. Single bead sight, 3 inch chamber, and an improved modified choke. Standard three-line J. Stevens address and patent markings on the left side of the receiver and a tang mounted safety switch. Grooved slide handle and smooth stock with a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull is 13 5/8 inches. Of historical note, reportedly on page 157-160 of 1972 Gun Digest, they state there was only three made.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The shotgun has half refinished blue over areas of pitting, edge wear, and well defined markings. The refinished wood is also fair with worn grooves and a thin crack on the slide handle, dings and dents throughout, and smoothed chipping around the top buttplate screw. Mechanically very good.
