The Model 61 was produced by Winchester from 1932 until 1963 in a wide variety of configurations. This particular rifle was manufactured in 1946 according to the Winchester Collector Association and is in a rare single caliber configuration with octagon barrel. The Winchester Model 61 catalog offered customers octagon barrels in .22 LR from 1932 to 1946. The upper left barrel flat is marked with the Model 61 legend followed by "-22 LONG R.-" (cut through the finish). The two Winchester proof marks are correctly located on the top of the barrel and receiver. The rifle features a dovetail beaded blade front sight, an adjustable sporting rear sight, checkered push button safety and magazine tube handle, 3/4 length magazine tube, 17 groove flat bottom forearm, and a smooth pistol grip stock with checkered metal buttplate.
