Description:

This is an exceptional example of an original 06/34 Mauser Commercial American Eagle Luger with the very desirable A.F. Stoeger marking. These American Eagle Lugers were made expressly for export to the United States and those with the "A.F. STOEGER" markings were made specifically under contract by the DWM factory for the A.F. Stoeger Company in New York who was a major arms importer in the 1920s and 1930s. The chamber is marked with the American Eagle crest and the front toggle has the DWM marking. The pistol is chambered for the 7.65 mm Luger cartridge with the rapid taper 4 3/4 inch barrel. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "A.F. STOEGER INC/NEW YORK" along with a small "GERMANY" mark, indicating it was intended for sale outside of Germany and the right side of the frame is marked "LUGER -REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE". It is correctly marked "LOADED" and "SAFE" on the extractor and upper safety position respectively. This very early example is correctly numbered only on the front of the frame. The left side of the barrel extension, and left side of the front toggle have a "crown/N" proofmark. The magazine is a nickel plated version with a wood base marked, "GERMANY". It is estimated that approximately 1,000 of these pistols were manufactured, however original examples such as this pistol are exceptionally scarce. The pistol has a rust blue finish with straw colored small components and fitted with checkered walnut grips. This very early example is correctly numbered only on the front of the frame.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus, 99% original blue overall. 98% plus original straw colors. The grips are excellent plus. Mechanically excellent. Cannot be improved upon!
