Released in 1949, the P210 was a top of the line police and military sidearm through the 1970s, having a level of fit more in line with a top-rate target pistol than a government-issued sidearm, commanding a reputation as a high quality pistol to this day. This particular 210, bearing the "D" (Deutschland) serial prefix, lacking "Swiss cross" marks or a lanyard ring, and equipped with a loaded chamber indicator, indicates a contract pistol for the West German Bundesgrenzschutz (Federal Border Guard, forerunner of the modern Federal Police and home of the GSG-9 counter-terror unit). Fixed sights, "SIG" in an oval on the left side of the slide, matching numbers on the barrel, slide, frame and hammer group, smooth trigger and serrated grips.
