This scarce double rifle by the Luigi Franchi firm is an exceptionally fine example of a masterfully crafted Italian sporting arm. It is manufactured in much the same manner as Franchi's Imperial Grade side by side shotguns, except chambered in one of the most popular rifle cartridges for dangerous game, .375 H&H Magnum. The left barrel is marked "S.A. Luigi Franchi Brescia and there are bands of light engraving at the breeches. The barrels are joined by a raised matted rib that is fitted with a ramped beaded blade front sight, three-leaf notch rear sights (one standing, two folding), graduated for 100, 200, and 300 yards, and claw type scope mounts. The receiver is extensively embellished with masterfully executed floral, rosette, and banner engraving with the Franchi Brescia markings repeated in a banner on the bottom. Standard Italian proofs are present on the water table and bottom of the "ACCIAIO POLDI ANTICORRO" marked barrels, along with the caliber markings. It is mounted with a finely figured and checkered splinter forearm with matching engraving on the fittings and a checkered pistol grip stock with teardrop flats, scalloped grip cap, cheekpiece, and solid rubber recoil pad. The length of pull is 14 3/4 inches and it weighs 10lbs 13.6oz with the included Schmidt & Bender 1.25-4x20 scope fitted.

Exceptionally fine, retains 97% original blue finish with a few scattered minor thin spots, some light muzzle wear, and some scattered light handling marks. Nearly 99% original coin finish with crisp engraving. The wood is very fine with some scattered light scratches and dings, a hairline crack in the grip cap, a few scattered age lines in the varnish, and a few light blemishes in the crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The optics are clear and the scope tube has a few light handling marks. A beautifully crafted Italian double rifle that is ready for your next large game hunt or safari!
