Description:

Manufactured in 1941 with standard markings and features. The included factory letter lists shipment of this revolver to Camp Ritchie in Highfield, Maryland "For: Military Intelligence Corps Depot" on 16 March 1944 in a shipment of 800 guns. Camp Ritchie was the training sight of a group of men often known as the "Ritchie Boys". Many of these men were Jewish and/or European refugees that had been specifically selected for their ability to speak German, Italian, French, Polish, or other languages useful to the American war effort. They were trained as intelligence operatives specializing in counterintelligence, interrogation, investigation, and psychological warfare. These specialties led to them often finding themselves on, near, or behind the front lines, which included a large number of them landing in Normandy on D-Day. These revolvers were intentionally ordered without government property markings due to the clandestine nature of the work done by the Ritchie Boys.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 95% original blue finish with some surface oxidation on rear grip strap, some light muzzle wear, and a cylinder drag line. The replacement grips are fine with a few light handling marks, repairs to the front bottom corner of each panel, and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
