Description:

Dated "9/64" on the left side of the magazine well, this appears to be a very early example of the commercial HK41 Rifle. A semi-automatic variant of the German G3 battle rifle, H&K did not initially introduce a new model name, selling both a G3 machine gun and a G3 sporting rifle at the same time. Hoping to distinguish the product lines and stay ahead of German laws, the HK-41 was formally introduced as a distinct product from the G3. This rifle represents an early transition, with the original "G3" mark factory overstamped with a "308" caliber marking. To abide the law, factory alterations were made to prevent the installation of a "hinge pin" trigger group, with a extended bar hinge attached behind the G3-style paddle and button magazine catch, in contrast to the later "shelf" hinge that prevented installation of the release paddle. Post front and four position rear drum sights, with a threaded flash hider, clip-on casing deflector, ventilated alloy handguard with folding bipod, 2-position selector group, matching numbered bolt and bolt carrier, and a 2-position telescoping buttplate. Also included is a manual and a clamp-on scope base. Magazine is absent.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 85% of the factory matte black finish, showing mild wear and handling marks overall, a few hints of a gray patina on the barrel, and mild scuffing on the receiver from the scope block. The stock is in good order. Mechanically excellent.
