Exceptional Webley-Fosbery Model 1902 Automatic Revolver with Ammunition, Serial Number "228"

The Webley-Fosbery was meant as a counter-point to the early semi-automatic pistols then emerging on the market, providing the large-bore firepower and relative mechanical simplicity of a revolver with the smooth single-action operation of an automatic. While mechanically novel, the tide of history was on the side of the semi-autos, with Browning's designs in particular able to scratch the firepower itch. This example, serial number 228, is one of only 300 manufactured prior to 1901. Patridge blade front and notch rear sights, with matching numbers on several components, and "WEBLEY FOSBERY AUTOMATIC" on the left side of the top strap. The left frame side plate bears the "flying bullet" trademark ahead of "455 CORDITE ONLY", with "SAFE" in raised letters on the left grip panel. Fitted with a lanyard ring and a set of finely checkered grips. Included with he revolver is a resealed box of Kynoch brand 455 ammo, marked for a 6 1/2 grain Cordite powder load and "Man Stopping" bullets.

ConditionExcellent, with 90% plus of the crisp original blue finish, showing cycling/handling marks, as well as scattered spots of mixed gray patina with denser dark oxidation visible on the back strap. The grips are also excellent, with a few mild dents. Mechanically excellent. If you want to own an exceptional Webley-Fosbery, here it is!
