Description:

A precursor to the more common CZ 27 pistol, the CZ 24 uses a delayed blowback rotating barrel action to chamber the 9mm Kurz cartridge. While this arrangement gave notable firepower for the size, the simpler design of the CZ 27 was more popular. This pistol in particular features a scarce variation in the frame design, in particular being notably longer than standard. Similar to adjustments made to Browning's Colt 1902 and FN 1910 handguns, this change provided both a larger grip surface for the user as well as space for a longer magazine, increasing capacity. Records on these handguns are limited, though information in Jan Still's "Axis Pistols" suggest they were destined for commercial sale in Poland and Lithuania (purportedly estimated production of 2500). Fixed sights, with the one line Prague address on top of the slide, "CZ 30" on the left side, "C(arrow)Z" on the side plate, smooth one piece grip, serrated ring hammer, lanyard ring, and the proper extended magazine, which is numbered to match the pistol on the floorplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 60% plus original blue finish, showing areas of gray patina, bright edge wear, shallow pitting on the muzzle and the front of the slide, and mild handling marks overall. The grips are very good, with some light dents and scratches. Mechanically very good. An interesting and scarce variation of an important Czechoslovakian handgun.
