Description:

Originally finished in the Luftwaffe's traditional dark blue, this helmet was overpainted in a very dark green (Luftwaffe Eagle decal preserved or reapplied on the left side) and then covered with a set of chicken wire. Chicken wire nets were a popular field modification, typically improvised in the field from "confiscated" civilian stocks, which helped break up the profile of the helmet and provided a handy mounting point for additional camouflage material. The skirt is marked "926" and "ET68", and the interior harness is secured with a set of four "two pin" spanner bolts, with a gray leather chinstrap. The leather webbing has torn and detached (large partial section included), exposing the underlying felt and herringbone twill cloth material of the band and the padding in the crown.

Rating Definition:

Very good as a historic artifact used in battle. The exterior has a number of scuffs and scratches, along with some light wear from shifting of the wire net. The chinstrap is cracked, with the interior showing minor wear. The netting is solidly attached.
