Manufactured circa 1941 and subsequently professionally and beautifully embellished. The muzzle and breech ends of the barrel are decorated with floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background, and a gold and silver inlaid band at the breech end and a gold inlaid wire band on the muzzle. The receiver, hammer, lever, top of the bolt and forend cap also decorated with floral scroll and punch dot engraving with gold inlaid wire accents. The left side of the receiver also has a gold inlaid mountain lion in a wooded mountain scene and the right side has a gold inlaid lynx and beaver. The underside has a gold inlaid hawk in a heart shaped gold inlaid wire border. Just above the hawk is a "crown/BNP" proof mark. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the two line Winchester proof steel, Model 65, and Winchester Trade Mark markings followed by "218 BEE", and the right side is marked with the two line Winchester Repeating Arms address. The Winchester oval proof is marked on the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The underside of the barrel near the muzzle is marked with a "crown/BNP" proof mark. The top of the receiver at the breech is marked with the Winchester oval proof. The upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK/MADE IN U.S.A." Brass bead ramped blade front sight and elevation adjustable sporting rear sight which is floral scroll engraved with gold inlaid wire accents. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Mounted with a very nicely figured extra fancy high gloss walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered shotgun buttplate. The forearm and stock wrist feature fine checkering and carved oak leave and acorn designs, and the grip cap is finely checkered and has a lightly engraved gold inlaid skeletonized grip cap.

Very fine as beautifully professionally embellished with 99% plus blue finish remaining a few light handling marks and a very small area of minor pitting under the finish on the underside of the barrel. All of the gold inlay remains. The wood shows a few light handling marks with sharp checkering and carving. The engraving and markings remain sharp. The action is excellent.
