Description:

Developed after World War II, the Beretta BM-59 Rifle was a parallel development to the U.S. M14 rifle; essentially a "next generation" M1 Garand with upgraded features. The Springfield BM-59 uses a combination of new-made commercial parts (most critically, a semi-auto only receiver) and military surplus components, with Beretta "PB" marks in multiple areas. Blade front and peep rear sight, with an integral grenade launcher and bayonet lug, folding bipod and winter trigger, "SILMA-1971" marked barrel, and a smooth pistol grip stock with a rubber buttpad. With a storage box hand-numbered to match the rifle, matching numbered Springfield hang-tag, Beretta manual, and oiler.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% original black finish, showing minor handling marks overall. The gas cylinder shows a rough texture, and there is a 1 1/4 inch long casting flaw on the right rear side of the receiver. The stock is very good, with some spotting in the finish, patches of an unidentified white material/residue, and a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
