Manufactured in 1882 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with rear serrations. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with an octagon barrel and plain trigger when received in the warehouse on October 3, 1882 and shipped the next day. The rifle is equipped with a dovetail blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight. The rifle correctly lacks caliber designation markings. The upper tang has the model designation, and the lower tang has the serial number. The plain straight grip stock is fitted with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included).

Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. Traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The buttplate has a dark mottled brown patina. Some original niter blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is also fine with minor-moderate dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
