Description:

Measuring approximately 14 inches overall with a 8 3/4 inch long and 1 5/8 inch wide (widest point) spearpoint blade. The handle is constructed of simply carved hardwood with a German silver type inlay wrapped around the upper half. The knife shows the simple, rugged, styling of knives used as a trade good to Native Americans in the early to mid-19th century. Two stickers on the knife attribute it as an 1820s crafted trade knife formerly of the Jim Dresslar collection.

Rating Definition:

Fair, the blade showing mostly a brown patina with mild pitting, evidence of sharpening, and some minor nicks in the edge. The handle is also fair with minor handling marks throughout and an attractive antique patina on the inlay which has a few small pieces absent.
