This unique poster depicts a scene of the Colt factory burning with hundreds of townspeople looking on as firefighters rush to the scene of the conflagration. Measures approximately 24 inches high by 48 inches wide. The following is printed on the poster, top: "Presented Losses $17,485,894 .71/100 PAID by the/AETNA INSURANCE CO."; bottom: "BURNING OF COLT'S PISTOL FACTORY - FEBRUARY '1864/OF HARTFORD (Aetna logo) CONNECTICUT/This leading American Fire Insurance Co. is organized upon a National basis, with Agencies in all principal Cities, Towns and Villages. Application for insurance made to any duly authorized Agent promptly attended to." Right side is marked "FIRE AND INLAND INSURANCE": and the left side is marked "INCORPORATED CO. 1819".
