Description:

Under 20,000 Hall Model 1819 breech loading rifles were manufactured between 1817 and 1840 at Harpers Ferry under John H. Hall's direction. They are the first breech loading military firearms produced in any significant quantities and adopted for regular use. They are also one of the first firearms produced with all interchangeable parts. This example was manufactured in 1832 and was later converted to the percussion system. Many of the converted Model 1819s were taken from arsenals in the South and used by the Confederacy during the Civil War. It has the standard offset blade and notch sights, "J. H. HALL/H. FERRY/U S/1832" on the breechblock, and a socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 30% brown lacquer finish, strong patches of case colors on the breech, minor oxidation, mild overall wear, and distinct markings. The stock is very good and has minor dings and scratches. Mechanically needs work: the hammer and trigger are not engaging. The bayonet is fine and has gray and brown patina.
