Description:

Manufactured in 1876/77. The frame has the incredibly rare early screw hole for the Aldritch Device, which has its original filler screw. The Aldritch Device was meant as a safety and did not allow the user to open the cylinder while the hammer was cocked. Matching serial number on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, barrel latch, and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 98% original nickel finish, minor areas of frosting, light cylinder drag line, a few minor areas of spotting, and sharp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. A very rare 1st production S&W Baby Russian that will be a valued addition to any collection. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
