Description:

Built from a combination of new-made and military surplus components by Douglas Laurence Oefinger of Stamford, Connecticut, this is a fully functional Browning Model 1919A4 Machine Gun outfitted as an infantry weapon and marked in the style of a WWII-production gun from the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors. A direct descendant of the Browning Model 1917 water-cooled machine gun, the 1919 was a lightweight and versatile machine gun, which was a primary weapon for all branches of the American armed forces during World War II and beyond. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, long ventilated heat shield around the barrel and Saginaw/DLO nomenclature markings on the right side plate. A swiveling pintle is mounted at the front of the receiver, with a checkered pistol grip. Two mounts are included; a Stevens-marked M3 truck bed pintle (some bolts absent) and a green painted folding field tripod with gun carriage and T&E mechanism. Other accessories include a pair of manuals, an AGI instructional DVD, a large quantity of disintegrating belt links (including a sealed bag marked as holding 1000), and a cased belt loading tool.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the parkerized finish, showing areas of brown patina, handling marks and edge wear. The rear sight base is slightly bent. Both mounts show wear and oxidization appropriate to age, and the folding tripod may have been repainted. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
