This is an excellent example of a WWI 1896 Mauser pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. It is a standard WWI 1896 small ring variation with the late style "NS" marked hammer. Standard sights with the tangent rear sight marked 50-500 meters with the standard 23 groove grips branded with the large "9" on each side filled with red paint, including a matching serial number inside the left panel and a partially illegible number (visible parts matching) on the right. Standard receiver and frame markings of "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A NECKAR." and "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N." on the barrel. The Mauser "crown/U" proof mark is located on the upper left side of the receiver below the serial number and on the top left side of the bolt. A hardwood shoulder stock (number "194" iron which is two digits away from pistol number "192") is included with the pistol, along with a modern reproduction leather belt harness and wood-handled cleaning rod.
