Manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal, the Type 2 was a specialized takedown variant of the Type 99 Arisaka for issue to paratroopers. As Japanese parachute technology made jumping with a full-sized rifle impractical, the Type 2 would be carried disassembled and then snapped together on landing. Fitted with an inverted "V" front sight and folding ladder rear sight with attached anti-aircraft wings, standard receiver markings, ground mum, and matching "860" assembly number on the mounting hardware and receiver, The bolt, and forend block are marked with matching partial serial number "857", and the bayonet lug and barrel lug are marked "893". Standard pistol grip stock with cupped steel buttplate. Includes Kokura bayonet and steel sheath.

Very good. The mismatched rifle retains 50% original blue finish, areas of high point and edge wear scratches and dings throughout, and areas of mottled gray patina. The lightly sanded wood is good with dings and dents overall, some absent slivers and chips around the buttplate, and mixed brown patina on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
