A) Colt Third Model Derringer

Colt manufactured these Third Model derringers beginning in 1870 and ending in 1912, and they were Colt's most popular single shot pocket pistols. This closely serialized pair (7548 and 7555) has the early production high hammers, round blade front sights, "-COLT-" on top of the barrels, London proofmarks on the bottom of the barrels, the Rampant Colt trademark on the left side of the silver-plated brass frames, checkered grips numbered to the pistols, and "E" by the serial numbers on the left side of the grip frames. They are fitted in a hardwood case with Colt's London Agency trade label inside, a cleaning rod, two cartridges, and a key.

ConditionExtremely fine with 85% plus original blue finish and 75% original silver plating, dark aged patina on the latter, some minor strike marks at the edge of the chamber on the left, strong original case colors on the hammer, and minor age and storage related wear. The grips are very fine and have distinct checkering, attractive natural coloration and grain, and minimal wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine and has mild storage wear including contact spots on the trade label.

ConditionExtremely fine with 85% plus original blue finish, 80% plus original silver plating which exhibits dark aged patina, silver loss concentrated on the left side of the frame, traces of original case colors on the hammer, strong original niter blue on the trigger, and minor overall wear mainly from age and storage. The grips are very fine and have distinct checkering, attractive natural coloration and grain, a few tiny age cracks, and minor wear. Mechanically excellent.
