Description:

Made by Jules Moigniez (Fr. 1835-1894). Massive and impressive silvered bronze sculpture of an eagle taking off from a tree limb. Highly intricate feathering on the eagle which has upturned wings. The eagle grasps the tree trunk limb with one talon while the other talon is outstretched. The tree trunk base has intricate fleur-de-lis design and is surrounded by a circular base that rests on a custom, multifaceted circular 2 inch thick black marble plinth with a small gold plaque marked "THE EAGLE/J. Moigniez". The eagle is signed on the base "J. Moigniez". The statues dimensions are 46 inches in height, 21 1/2 inches in width and weighs approximately 130 pounds.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The bronze statue has a smooth silver patina overall with only slight handling marks. The marble plinth is excellent.
