Description:

Crafted by the great animalier Antoninne Louis Barye (French 1796-1875), the great lions are resting on the ground with paws outstretched and heads upright looking for danger or prey. Great detail with the bronze base signed "BARYE". The bronze is mounted on a rectangular black marble plinth. Measuring 15 inches high, 22 1/2 inches wide and 10 inches deep. Weight, approximately 90 pounds each.

Rating Definition:

The bronze is excellent with a dark smooth patina and some light handling/storage marks. The marble is excellent with a few small chips and light handling/storage marks.
