Manufactured earlier in the approximately 1876-1880s production run with the bird's head butt, no top strap, scoop type cylinder flutes, and wedge in front of the cylinder pin housing below the barrel. The markings are standard with the exception of "ASHLEY WYO" markings added to the left side of lower back strap (partially covered by grip) and "J.G. MIDCAP," "ASHLEY SHERIDAN WYO" and other markings hand scratched on the back of the right grip. The exact significance of these markings is not documented.
