Developed in the 1970s as a potential competitor against the U.S. M16/AR-15 rifle, the FNC was adopted by a number of armed forces, including the Belgians, as well as being licensed for production in Sweden and Indonesia. Post front and two-leaf peep rear sights, with a flip-up grenade sight, vented and ribbed forearm, smooth pistol grip, and a side folding buttstock. The selector is marked for "S" (safe), "1" (semi-automatic), "3" (3-round burst, functional) and "A" (full automatic). A spring loaded alloy scope rail is included, which installs between a front hook and the rear sight assembly (scope not included).
