Description:

This is an exceptional example of an original 1945 dated British Enfield No. 4 Mk 1(T) sniper rifle kit. It is complete with its original matching components to include the No. 32 Mk III scope, scope mount, original matching 1945 canvas scope storage bag and even the original matching green wooden sniper rifle storage chest. These rifles were the standard WWII British sniper rifles used throughout WWII until the early 1960s. The butt socket is marked "M47C/S32450/1945/TR" with the "No. 4 Mk. I" and "T" receiver marks. It has a matching bolt with a number "0" marked bolt head, standard front sight and its correct sniper type adjustable rear sight. The underside of the forearm is stamped with a British "Crown/JC N22 (the manufactures code) over rifle number "S32450". The underside of the buttstock is stamped with a British Crown proof over "Z/SL N/74" and "S51", with the matching scope serial number "24012" on top of the wrist. The No. 32 Mk III sniper scope, is marked "TEL. STG. No.32 Mk.3/OS 2039A/CT&H No. 24012" and the scope tube is hand painted with a blue "B" and red "W" letters indicating it has bloomed lens coating and is water proof tested. The mount is stamped with rifle serial number "S32450" and "N92" indicating it was manufactured by the Dalglish & Son factory in Glasgow. It has original matching scope ring halves; "727C" and "728C" with the retaining screws having their original staking marks. The scope has the standard WWII three post reticle pattern. The rifle, scope and mount all have their original black wartime finishes with original oil finish walnut buttstock, forend and handguards. The comb of the stock is correctly fitted with a walnut cheekpiece held on with two wood screws. It comes with an original No. 8 Mk2 canvas telescope case and carrying strap that has the original small paper labels on the front with the matching numbers for the rifle, scope and mount, showing an inspection date of 1962. Also included is a set of original 1945 dated/British proofed leather lens caps, a small tin containing cleaning equipment with an original 1942 dated British canvas rifle case. Complete its original green painted wooden storage/transit chest. The end of the chest is affixed with a paper label marked "S32450/BA10317/Rifle No. 4 TW/Rifle MKI".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the original British black metal finish with minor edge and high spot wear. The scope and mount are also in excellent condition with 95% plus of their original finish with only finish loss on the ends of the scope where the lens caps were installed. The optics are clear and sharp. The stock and handguard all retaining their original oil finish showing some minor handling marks on the sides in some areas with clear sharp proofs and markings. The scope case and accessories are all in excellent condition. The underside of the wrist and side of the buttstock are hand painted with a white number "6" rack number and the top of the wrist has a small dab of flat yellow paint which is also marked on top of the lid of the rifle chest. The wooden chest is in fine condition with wear on the edge and corners. A wonderful all complete and all matching No. 4 Mk I (T) sniper rig.
