The included research booklet identifies the original owner (based on SS number 17422) as one Wilhelm Dirscherl, born December 14, 1906 in Regensburg. The included information states Dirscherl joined the SS on October 1, 1931 as a candidate with assigned number 17422, and joined the NSDAP on November 1, 1931 with party member number 697159. It lists his awards as a bronze SA sports badge, Ehrendolch (honor dagger), Alte Garde Winkel and other insignia, Totenkopfring, and Odalsrune of Rusha. It lists his SS rank as Untersturmfuhrer, army rank as Oberleutnant, associated military units, and his spouse. A number of other document copies (all in German) are included. Standard Holbein pattern dagger with a 8 5/8 inch double edged blade etched "Meine Ehre heist Treue" on the obverse side, no visible maker or RZM markings on the reverse, standard nickel cross guard stamped "17422" on the top face, ebony wood grip with correct inset nickel "eagle/swastika", dual "SS" Sig runes at the pommel, and matching nickel pommel and nut. Includes a blued steel sheath with nickel tip and throat, and correct first pattern leather hanger with nickel fittings.
