The accompanying factory letter lists this deluxe Model 1894 with an octagon barrel in .30 caliber, checkered pistol grip stock, plain trigger, "Lyman front and [tang] sights," ".32 Winchester special rear sight," and takedown configuration when received in the warehouse on January 17, 1903 and shipped on January 19. In his included letter noted Winchester expert and author George Madis authenticates this rifle as being all original, including the special order rear sight which was usual reserved for guns chambered in .32 Winchester Special as well as the special order Lyman beaded blade front and tang sights. As Madis notes in the letter, "Special sights were rarely ordered; most gun buyers were satisfied with Winchester's standard sights. It is very unusual to find a Winchester with three special order sights." The barrel is stamped with the two-line address/patent date marking and "30 WCF" on the top flat and the two-line nickel steel marking on the upper left flat. The deluxe walnut and pistol grip stock feature "H" style checkering and "piano finish." The pistol grip has a hard rubber Winchester cap, and the buttstock is fitted with a solid crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "15878 and "XX." The buttstock is stamped "94/T/15878" under the buttplate and as noted by Madis, has a factory bored hole to improve balance. The buttplate is also stamped with the assembly number "15878." Includes a letter of authenticity signed by Tom Selleck confirming it is from his personal collection.

Fine, retaining 60% plus original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. 30% original niter blue remains on the loading gate. 70% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is very good with minor dings and scratches, most of the original varnish remaining, smooth forearm checkering and crisp pistol grip checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. As Madis proclaims, "This is an outstanding collector's Winchester; with it age, unusually fine condition and rare features, it merits a prominent place in any fine collection or museum."
