Description:

Manufactured c. 1872 and engraved with high coverage scroll engraving with punched backgrounds and line accents, "XXX STANDARD 1872" on the top of the octagonal barrel, "J.M. MARLIN/NEW HAVEN CT." on the left side of the barrel, and attractive pearl grips numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% original nickel plating remaining, flaking mainly on the frame, aged patina on the exposed brass, absent front sight blade, crisp engraving and markings, and minor overall wear. The grips are also very fine and have attractive natural coloration and mild wear. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
